COURSE PURPOSE:
The following comes from the text written by Dr. Bill
Rideout:
"This course is intended for Affiliated New Thought Network
(A.N.T.N.) Science of Mind Ministerial students and graduates, and may be useful for any cleric leader in any faith who chooses to review personal views and how thought influences his or her interaction with clients.
This material is being made available through the Emerson Institute for use by individuals and Churches/Centers offering a course in Ministerial Ethics.
As is so necessary in any profession, the student of this course must make him/herself aware of the variance in codes, ordinances, laws and decrees in local,' state or federal areas of jurisdiction which are relevant to his or her area of activity. All such applicable laws or regulations will guide the Minister and Practitioner in any legal arena in the practice of counseling.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is intended to be used as partial fulfillment of a basic seven week commitment in personal growth and development of Ministers in Training as well as a useful and supportive self evaluation of those already involved as licensed and practicing Ministers in Religious Science. Each meeting is for
two hours. It is meant to be used as a foundation course for those considering their life path and their options of personal spiritual expansion while devoting their efforts, energies and lives to the support of the One power through teaching others to heal using this One Power.
The suggested material is developed for support of individual and group study with an emphasis on the meditation of personal needs, preferences and integrating the self into a progressive and supportive aspect of care for those seeking Ministerial and spiritual guidance.
This course is meant also as a starting point. It will be expanded by the individual and group consciousness as participants contribute to its knowledge base. Comments and suggestions for future inclusions are welcome.
This Ministerial Ethics guide consists mainly of Self-Inventory type exercises and thought provoking focus on Personal Attitudes and Beliefs about Ministerial Duties and Obligations and the individual Minister. The establishment and compliance with a code of ethics is considered as a minimum standard of quality and guidance by each Church or Center. This is to assure that ministerial representatives of that organization are qualified, capable as well as responsible, respected teachers and agents. It is their commitment to teach and interact with members of the congregation as well as the general public.
This course is a tool for the self-evaluation and introduction of basic code of ethics that is simple and very clear as to the Science of Mind Principles and teachings of Ernest Holmes.
It is realized that the enforcement of such a code is more than an organizational guideline for behavior and regulation. It is an invitation for each individual to evaluate his or her personal ideas and growth toward the expression of personal development and expression of the individual's Spiritual perfection."
