About The Essential Ernest Holmes

Here, in one volume, is a selection of the core and essential writings by internationally renowned scholar, mystic, and author Ernest Holmes, providing readers with a library of the most important ideas in the religious psychology that Holmes defined.

The Essential Ernest Holmes comprises selections from classic works such as This Thing Called You, The Science of Mind textbook, and Creative Mind and Success-but also included are brilliant passages from some of Holmes's lesser-known works, such as The Voice Celestial, as well as a generous sampling from articles and lectures.

The book features remembrances of the beloved sage and teacher from the works of his contemporaries; a chronology of Holmes's life and work; and an accessible introduction by editor Jesse Jennings that frames Holmes's body of ideas for all readers. Jesse Jennings has been a published columnist in Science of Mind Magazine for the past ten years.

NOTE:  This course constitutes 1.333 units of the One Year Course in Practical Spirituality.

Science of Mind  is often described as "open at the top", and the student is always encouraged to intellectually challenge any concepts stated in the texts we study. Science of Mind is a set of spiritual practices that fully engage both the mind and the heart. Science of Mind is a profound and beautiful way of expressing the lives we are given. We wish for you to enter this class with the expectation of an experience of spiritual dedication, discipline, devotion, and an attitude of expectancy. This path leads us on a journey of discovering the deepest purpose and meaning for your life and your relationship with God.

What is the purpose of Science of Mind?

There are many purposes of Religious Science teaching, each depending on the disposition and inclination of the student. One purpose is to become a spiritual scientist, to become an expert in using the Law of Mind to establish heath, prosperity, love and creative self-expression in your life. The ultimate purpose of this teaching is transformation. There are two aspects to the teaching: Love and Law. By embodiment of these two aspects, you consciously experience the Love of God and you deliberately direct the Law of God.  The Spiritual Path is a way to living your life dedicated to your fullest self-expression, joy and abundance and sharing the gifts of these with all of life itself.
